Address Lockdown & Shipping costs

Hi Everyone,

I've added shipping fees to the BackerKit pledgemanager, and sent out a lockdown notice for addresses (Which will auto-lock in 2 days). If you need to change your address for shipping please do so now. You should be able to check the shipping price for your order also. I believe that the estimates for shipping are very much the same as the current price or the current price should only be £1/€1/$1 or so more for the single zine.
The plan is to charge cards on the Thursday 30th 12pm EST for the shipping costs, but I shall be popping the zine only pledges in the packaging, so I can hopefully get labels printed for them to be collected on the 2nd.

Digital Copies

We're very nearly there, i'm just working through the feedback :) So stay tuned to get these this coming week.

A Quick Update
6 months ago – Mon, Aug 05, 2024 at 07:09:14 AM

Hi Everyone,

Some news. The Tower is done!

Print

It has been sent to print and I had some copies to review arrive this morning (It's f***ing gorgeous). There are a couple of things that need to be worked out, so those will be fixed in due course. However I can take the final weight from these, and can get shipping profiles set up in the BackerKit pledgemanager. I'll do another update when I have the rates, and you will be notified that they are there to view before being charged in the pledge manager.

Digital

I am working on moving the print file into suitable for digital release, which is taking a little longer than hoped due to being snowed under with other work. This is because I want it to be accessible and I'm still learning to use those features in our layout program. This will be finished in due course.

What does this mean?

Our Aim is to get everything out to you this month. The zine will not be released to anyone else before you get access to your digital copies. All our packaging is already in place, so it can be shipped as soon as everything comes together. It will be shipped in waves by Pledge level, to make for the most efficient packing.

Update!
7 months ago – Thu, Jul 04, 2024 at 05:25:07 AM

Hi Everyone!

Apologies for the quiet. There's not much to be said, the writing and editing for The Tower is all done. The Layout and illustrations are being worked on by Nala, and I'm really excited for them to all come together.

We've been communicating with our printer to make sure we have the best balance of paper thickness and binding, because The Tower has turned into a much bigger book. For that reason we're needing to consider perfect binding, which we hope you all wont mind. They're also ready for us to go to print mid month, so when that happens is when you'll next have an update!

At the moment we're still on target and I've got the packaging on hand ready for the books to go out when they arrive. I should have the closest estimate on weight once the full layout is finished and we can confirm the page total, which will help us fix on paper thickness also. We want to make sure that the book looks excellent, so it's best to make our final decisions when go to print (we've already done the narrowing down on our options, so it'll be a simple matter of going, ok this one). So when we've got the closest estimate on weight, I can set up the shipping costs in the backerkit and those will be charged end of the month.

The sword charm is ready to go to print also and will be sent at the start of next week, meaning it will arrive before the end of July.

Everything is coming together and The Tower will hopefully be in your hands August as promised :)

Surveys and Statyous...

BackerKit Surveys

Hi Everyone!
You should have all had your BackerKit survey emails and probably a few reminders! If you haven't received yours please let me know and we'll get you a replacement link. This is a little poke to remind you to fill out your Survey if you have it, but haven't got round to it yet.

We'll be locking orders on the 17th! So all surveys should be filled out by then. If you've been following and deliberating on whether to get one, this will be your last chance to get a copy at less than retail..... So don't sleep on it!
If that means you need to head over to the pre-order store, you  can do so right here.

Where is the Tower?

We're in that liminal space of Editing and Art that comes after writing, the text is currently being refined with the support of a fantastic editor.  Whilst we are getting excited about each art piece and how they'll add that extra level of awesome to each room.

The Naming of Things

Yes! it's that time again, sometimes I'm good at it, other times.... well it leaves a lot to be desired, or in this case, I can't get over how punny it is so my brain refuses to come up with a different one...  Which is where I'm hoping you'll come in to save yourselves from this terrible play on a word entering your games. Help me, help you :P

Statyou

A small posable statue similar to an artist reference manikin. Once posed the poser can touch the manikin to a person and that person will be trapped in that position for some time, frozen in place but fully aware and still feeling the passage of time.  They will retain the knowledge of the person that trapped them.

A little something to create enemies with, great if you're trying to win a race, or a game of one up-person-ship, bad if you aren't intending to collect a list of nemesis... It's great as a non lethal option if you don't mind that pesky detail.
